Inspired by every sunset
All of this started when two young artists fell in love in 1990. One with a gift for curation and design, the other capable of solidifying her vision with his bare hands and a few old tools. Our love of dreaming and creating would come to full expression a few years later as a young family of 7 artists. We spent our days together dreaming, working, creating and exploring and usually ended them the same way, around a simple solid wood table in our dining room.
We talked about the dreams our kids had and creatively planned what we would build together next. And quite often, the wonder of a mountain top view or the serenity of a sunset dancing across the water would replay themselves around that table. It became the
centerpiece for our family. It’s where we laughed, shared, prayed, and made a lot of decisions. Important moments for our family happen around that one piece of furniture. were experiencing a wonderful life as a young family and wanted to share it with others. So we started inviting them to the table! Many times, in a couple different states, we brought it to churches, as an illustration, and taught families how to spend intentional time together.As our kids grew up and began families of their own, their artistry bloomed as did the values that were planted in their hearts decades before. Now they are wild eyed with a love for God, adventure, inspiration, and beauty, and we still share it all around the same table (with much needed extensions).
And we find ourselves once again wanting to share it with others, that’s how Sunset was born. Families need a place, a place as beautiful, natural and inspiring as the creation that surrounds us to be a centerpiece for our family. Where we share, laugh, learn, pray, dream and work. A place that helps hold us together, that reinvigorates us on the values of to-gather-ness. That’s what we remind one another of constantly, our family doesn’t build furniture, we build peaceful, natural, artisan places where families come to-gather.
